Expressions of Interest for an appointment to the Harness Racing NSW Board have now opened, Deputy Premier and Minister for Racing Troy Grant announced today.
The Harness Racing NSW board comprises five members appointed after a selection process with the term of one member – Chris Edwards - expiring on 2 February 2015. Mr Edwards is eligible to apply for reappointment.
"Expressions of interest are now
open until Friday 21 November 2014 for interested persons to apply for this position to contribute to the future success of our harness racing industry," Mr Grant said.
"The selection panel for the position will include former NSW Chief Veterinary Officer and current NSW Biosecurity Executive Director Dr Bruce Christie, former NSW Deputy Commissioner of Police and current Managing Director of Risk-e Business Consultants Dave Owens, and Chair of the Harness Racing Industry Participants Consultation Group Peter Neil.
"Harness Racing NSW is an independent body with board members appointed for up to four years to help oversee the sport’s regulation, promotion, strategic development and industry welfare.
"Candidates must have experience in a senior administrative role or experience at a senior level in one or more of the fields of business, finance, law, marketing, technology, commerce, regulatory administration or regulatory enforcement.
"The successful applicant will be joining a professional board that is already making progress in ensuring the future of harness racing in NSW is sustainable and strong.
"Successful expressions of interest will progress to interviews followed by probity checks with the chosen applicant likely to be announced in December."
