Deputy Premier and Minister for Racing Troy Grant today announced the three successful independent directors to be appointed to the Australian Turf Club board.
The appointment process included an independent panel which received 39 applications and conducted 9 interviews to form their recommendations.
"There was a field of high calibre applicants which goes to the strength of the Australian Turf Club and its future," Mr Grant said.
"Laurie Macri has been re-appointed for an additional four year term and there are two new members of the board in Trish Egan and Matt McGrath who have both been appointed for three year terms.
"I congratulate them all on their appointment and I am confident their skills will complement the rest of the Board.
"The Australian Turf Club now has a very strong board moving forward with a stellar line up for the 2015 calendar including The Championships.
"I thank all those who were involved in this process including applicants, selection panel members, probity advisors and employees within the Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing for the way in which this process was conducted.
"I particularly want to thank John Camilleri, who is stepping down from the board, for his contribution over the past four years," Mr Grant said.
Australian Turf Club Chairman Michael Crismale welcomed the appointments by Mr Grant and said the three independent directors would be part of a strong and talented board.
"The current board members of the ATC have a diverse range of skills and with these two new appointments, along with our Vice-Chairman Laurie Macri’s reappointment, we have a great team,’’ Mr Crismale said.
"With the recent Club election of directors and two new Government appointed directors, we are well placed to continue to grow the ATC for our Members and the betterment of Sydney racing at our four racetracks.
"We can now continue with the hard work that has been achieved over the past four years as the Board and Executive of the ATC enter a period of growth and investment for the Club.
"I look forward to working with the new Board as we progress all of our plans."
