Attorney General Gabrielle Upton today announced the appointment of barrister John Robson SC as a judge of the Land and Environment Court of NSW.

“During a legal career that has spanned more than 30 years, Mr Robson has earned the respect of the legal community,” Ms Upton said.

Mr Robson was admitted as a solicitor in 1982 and later became a partner in a national law firm. He was called to the Bar in 1989 and was appointed as a Senior Counsel in 2004.

He has practised extensively in the areas of environment and planning law, commercial, equity and administrative law.

“I congratulate Mr Robson on this appointment and look forward to the contribution he will make to the Land and Environment Court of NSW,” Ms Upton said.

Mr Robson will fill the vacancy that has arisen due to the recent retirement of the Justice Malcolm Craig.

“Justice Craig has served with distinction on the bench of the Land and Environment Court over the past six years and I wish him the best for the next chapter of his life,” Ms Upton said.

Mr Robson will be sworn in as a judge of the Land and Environment Court on 5 July 2016.
