Picton Courthouse is closed for significant repairs after being damaged during last weekend's severe storms.

The building suffered extensive flooding, with water rising 50 cm above ground floor level.

The flooding destroyed floor coverings and damaged furniture, electrical systems and air conditioning facilities.

Local Court matters listed at Picton will be redirected to Moss Vale Courthouse until further notice.

This includes cases that were due before Picton Local Court on Thursday and Friday this week.

The Local Court usually sits at Picton 10 days per month. Anyone with matters listed at Picton can call the NSW Courts Service Centre on 1300 679 272 to confirm the new arrangements.

Most court complexes in storm-affected areas escaped relatively unscathed. Wollongong Courthouse suffered some water damage but it has not impacted upon sittings.
