The NSW Government has appointed experienced corporate advisor John Gibbons as Administrator of Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) to manage the corporate transition of greyhound racing’s governing body and affected clubs.

Mr Gibbons, who has over 40 years’ experience in corporate recovery and restructuring, has the necessary skills to undertake what will be a complex task.

Greyhounds Transition Taskforce Coordinator General Dr John Keniry will continue his important work in developing the transition package that will assist industry participants.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Racing Troy Grant said Mr Gibbons brings valuable skills to the challenging task of managing the corporate and regulatory functions of the industry’s closure.

Mr Gibbons is a Director of Corporate Recovery at Bentleys and has extensive experience in receivership and administration. He has conducted the complex scheme administration of New Cap Reinsurance Corporation and an investigation into former insurance giant HIH.

“As Administrator of GRNSW, he will oversee the continuing operation of the industry until 1 July 2017 including scheduling race meetings, stewarding and compliance,” Mr Grant said.
Mr Gibbons will also prepare and implement a business plan for the winding up of the industry and GRNSW.

This business plan will be released publicly and provide detailed guidance on measures to manage the business and regulatory functions of the industry’s closure.

Mr Grant thanked outgoing Interim CEO of GRNSW Paul Newson for his professional and diligent management of the organisation during a difficult and challenging time for the industry.
