The NSW Government has appointed Mr Peter Nugent to the Board of Harness Racing NSW, Acting Minister for Racing David Elliott announced today.
Mr Nugent, a Bathurst-based former school principal who has been involved in harness racing in the Central West for many years, fills a vacancy following the resignation of Alex Smith.
He has been appointed to the Harness Racing NSW Board until February 2019.
Mr Elliott said Mr Nugent brings significant administrative experience to the Board, which is responsible for overseeing the commercial and regulatory functions of harness racing in NSW.
Board Chairperson Graham Kelly said: "Peter has a long-standing interest in harness racing as well as extensive experience in education and community activities.
"These community activities are across a wide range of platforms with a great focus on younger people and families.
"An important objective of the Board is to seek greater involvement of families in the spectacle of harness racing to which Peter will be a real asset."
