Minister for Justice Michael Keenan and New South Wales Acting Minister for Justice and Police David Elliott today announced additional disaster assistance for primary producers who have been severely affected by the floods from late August 2016.
Minister Keenan said the assistance is being provided through the jointly funded Commonwealth-State Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA).
"Recovery grants of up to $15,000 are now available to help flood affected primary producers with their short to medium term recovery needs," Mr Keenan said.
"This assistance is in addition to the concessional loans and freight subsidies that have already been made available."
Minister Elliott said the recovery grants are available to eligible primary producers in the seven local government areas of Bland, Bogan, Forbes, Lachlan, Narromine, Parkes and Warren.
"The floods have had a devastating impact on primary producers in these local government areas and this assistance will make a real difference for farmers this Christmas," Mr Elliott said.
"The grants can be used for recovery efforts such as removing debris, salvaging crops and stock, and repairing damage to equipment."
To apply for a recovery grant, primary producers in the local government areas above can contact the NSW Rural Assistance Authority on 1800 678 593 or by visiting raa.nsw.gov.au.
