Corrective Services staff charged

Five custodial officers at the Metropolitan Remand and Reception Centre at Silverwater have been suspended from duty after being charged with allegedly assaulting inmates. The charges were laid on 21 and 26 August 2015.

Corrective Services NSW Assistant Commissioner (Custodial Corrections) Kevin Corcoran said, "Any such allegations are treated with great seriousness. We have cooperated with Police during the investigations."

The officers have been suspended with pay pending the outcome of the judicial process.

Corrective Services NSW cannot comment further as the matter is before the courts.
