Raymond Terrace Courthouse closes for renovations

Issued: Thursday 18 December 2014

Raymond Terrace Court is being renovated to significantly improve facilities for court users.

The project includes improving disability access, building a new safe room for domestic violence victims and upgrading facilities for the legal profession and court users.

Tenders will be advertised shortly, with the six month project expected to commence early next year.

From 5 January 2015, all Raymond Terrace matters will be transferred to East Maitland Local Court.

As there are currently no sittings at East Maitland, the move will not cause any delays or have any impact on service delivery.

Staff from Raymond Terrace are being re-located to East Maitland to help manage the extra workload.

A Magistrate currently sits at Raymond Terrace 14 days a month. This will remain the same when the court transfers to East Maitland.

The Registrar at Raymond Terrace has worked closely with the judiciary, staff and court users to ensure a smooth transition to East Maitland.

The court is expected to re-open by the end of June 2015.
