For the third year in a row, Oliver is the top little boys' name in NSW for 2016, with his sister Olivia joining him at the top of the tree.
This month the NSW Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages released the Top 10 baby names for births registered in NSW in 2016, with Oliver and Olivia – names often associated with peace – coming in at the top of their respective lists.
The 2016 chart included some new entries, with Lachlan and Leo nudging out Isaac and Jacob, and Isabella and Ruby just bumping Sophia and Zoe from the Top 10.
Here are the top 10 boys' and girls' names in NSW in 2016 as at 8 January 2017. (Parents in NSW have 60 days to register a child's birth and so these figures are subject to change as November and December newcomers flow through.)
The final list of the top 100 baby names will be published on the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages website by April 2017.
Registering a birth in NSW is free and it helps establish a child's legal identity in the community. Find out more by calling 13 77 88 or visiting www.bdm.nsw.gov.au.
