Multicultural communities
Diversity Services aims to continuously improve our services through community consultation, education, communication and participation.
We consult with various communities through their representatives to identify the barriers in accessing the Department of Communites and Justice services, programs and more broadly the justice system.
We will continue to develop strategies through consultation to make our services more flexible and user-friendly.
The Multicultural Plan
To demonstrate our commitment to improving services for people from multicultural communities, we are developing a new Multicultural Plan for the Department of Communities & Justice.

About the Multicultural Plan
The Multicultural NSW Act 2000 (NSW) (section 3(4)) requires each public authority to observe the multicultural principles in conducting its affairs.
The Plan being developed provides an outline of how the Department of Communities & Justice will integrate the multicultural principles into its work and will engage with multicultural communities over the next four years.
The Plan will be in line with the outcomes in four focus areas from the Multicultural NSW’s Multicultural Planning Framework.
The focus areas of the Multicultural Plan are:
- Service delivery
- Planning
- Leadership
- Engagement
